Everything you EVER needed to know about the GOP, its interest in workable legislation, affordable healthcare and responsible governance can be found in this one sentence found this afternoon on Talking Points Memo:
Even as rumors of a House vote as early as Thursday to repeal the Affordable Care Act rippled around the Capitol Wednesday afternoon, lawmakers told TPM they:
Have not yet seen the final text of the bill,
Will not wait for the Congressional Budget Office to analyze it,
And do not know if there are enough Republican supporters to ensure its passage.
What more can anyone say?
They are driven to true and utter desperation — striving to pass something, ANYTHING they can call Repeal and Replace, and with absolutely NO concern as to what the bill actually would do.
Go ahead Speaker Ryan….twist a few more arms, and in so doing, keep digging your party’s grave deeper and deeper.
It now appears Ryan’s plan is to somehow get it out of the House and encourage his members to go back and tell their constituents they did what they promised and then they can let their colleagues in the Senate take the blame when it falls apart. Way to build party comity, strength and unity Paul. I suspect McTurtle may be giving you a late night call.
